Heavy showers were experienced on yesterday (October15) at Kataragama ending the drought which prevailed for several months.
Many tanks in the area was affected by the drought and coconut trees and plantain trees in the gardens withered away. The residents in the area say that the rains will help save their half dried coconut and plantain trees.
