Nearly 500 students placed first at the Inter School English Language Competitions were awarded certificates and prizes at the Kalutara Zonal English Awards Ceremony held at Agamathi Bali M.V., Panadura recently. The ceremony was organised under the guidance of Assistant Director of Education (English) Indrani S. Kommala. The chief guest was the National Co-ordinator of English and Consultant to the NIE Maharagama, Dr. Chandra Amarasekara and Executive Director of the Asia Foundation, Anton Nallathambi was the guest of honour. Awards were presented for English Speech, Drama, Recitation, Cursive Writing, Prepared Speech, Dictation, Group Singing and Creative Writing at Zonal and National levels.
