Elders are the people who are elder to us. So we should respect our elders and look after them. They had looked after us when we were small. So it is our duty to look after them. Elders need company. There should be someone to talk to them and listen to them. In the past, even kings sought advice from elders and listened to their views. So we have to listen to elders and follow their advice. We must turn to our elders for wisdom, knowledge and experience. All religions emphasise the need to pay respect to elders and to look after them.
