A spectacular 47-metre last minute penalty put over by fly half Nalin Kumara enable CR & FC to beat the fighting Police SC outfit by 23 (3 tries, 1 conversions, 2 penalties) to 22 (3 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) in their Dialog ‘A’ division inter-club league rugby second round match played at Police Park yesterday. The winners were trailing 22-17 at half time.

CR dished out a superb brand of running rugby and gave a torrid time to Police with their three quarters through their experienced and reinstated coach M.J.M. Mushtaq right throughout the entire match. His presence really made the difference for the Red Shirts to win after three consecutive defeats.

CR scored three tries through centre Ashan de Costa, flanker Gayan Jayamanna and winger Kavindhu Perera with full back Prince Chamara converting one out of three tries. The Cops grabbed the lead with two brilliant tries scored by number eight Radeesha Seneviratne and a try

scored by flanker Joel Perera. Full back Rajitha Sansoni converted two tries and put over a penalty just before half time. After the break CR closed down the gap to 22-20 with a 30-meter Nalin Kumara penalty.

CR & FC sealed the match in the last minute with Kumara’s sensational penalty.
