Boost for child healthcare facilities at LRH

19 February, 2017

HNB Grameen,a dynamic and fast growing finance company who pioneered microfinance in Sri Lanka, recently made a significant donation of medical equipment worth Rs.3.5 million to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) Colombo.

The initiative was in line with their annual CSR projects driven towards uplifting the most deserving individuals in society.

This was made possible through the generous contribution made by the staff and customers of HNB Grameen.

The donation took place at the Hospital’s auditorium in the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. W.K. Wickramasinghe- Director of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Chaminda Prabhath- Managing Director/ CEO of HNB Grameen Finance, Priyalal Arangala- Chief Operating Officer, Bimal Seneviratne- Deputy General Manager, along with other officials and medical staff of the Hospital.

The donation included a special five-headed Olympus Teaching Microscope (Model – BX53) which was much needed by the Haematological Laboratory of the Hospital.

The special microscope allows up to five Doctors and Medical students to simultaneously observe haematological specimens for diagnosis and teaching purposes.

The microscope offers higher clarity of detail and better illumination, eliminating the need for additional lighting equipment. In addition, two Capnography extensions were donated to the Preliminary Care Unit of the Paediatric section which is responsible for conducting initial examinations and diagnosis for all children, prior to their admission to the hospital.

The Capnography extensions enables easy detection of carbon dioxide levels of children suffering from asthma, facilitating early detection of lung diseases.
