Shenal Ratwatte who entered the record books in 2016 by winning the U/20 - 200 meter in record timing clocking an impressive 21.73 seconds to set a new meet record erasing the earlier record of 22.04 seconds set by Uditha Wickramasinghe in 2007 won the Trinity College Sportsman Of The Year award at their annual prize giving recently.
Shenal represented Sri Lanka at the 17th Asian Junior Athletics Championship in Vietnam . A promising athlete Shenal, was the champion of the Junior school as well.This talented lad , was the school athletics Vice Captain in 2015.
There have been two Triple Lions in Trinity’s history, one was Thushara Weerasuriya who achieved this feat in 1987, winning the title for Cricket, Rugby and Athletics.
