St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya routed D.S. Senanayake College by 36 points (5 tries, 4 conversions, 1 penalty) to 5 (1 try) in their inter-school’s Singer ‘A’ Division league rugby opening encounter played at Navy grounds in Welisara yesterday. After leading 17-0 at lemons, the Peterites came strongly in the second half to thrash DSS with a brilliant display of open rugby. For the winning St. Peters team the five tries were scored by captain cum full back Diyath Fernando (two), winger Shehan Thivanka (one), second row forward Omar Mohideen (one) and prop forward Nikhil Yapa (one).
The four conversions and the penalty were fired across by Steffen Sivaraj.
The solitary try for DSS was scored by Inura Ransika.
