Australia’s Head returns to Yorkshire

19 March, 2017

Australia batsman Travis Head will return to Yorkshire for this year’s domestic T20 Blast competition, the English county announced on Saturday.”I am looking forward to returning to Headingley to play for the Yorkshire Vikings in 2017,” Head said in comments published on the Yorkshire website.”I really enjoyed my time in Yorkshire last year and I can’t wait to meet up with the lads again.”

Head, 23, impressed for Yorkshire in last season’s One-Day Cup and scored 113 runs in four Twenty20 games before being summoned for one-day duty with Australia. He recently recorded his first international century, plundering 128 runs against Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval, and is also developing as a bowler.

The left-hander, who has represented Australia 29 times in white-ball cricket, will link up with compatriot Peter Handscomb at Yorkshire, who reached the T20 Blast semi-finals last year.”It was a no-brainer to bring Travis back,” said first-team coach Andrew Gale.”If we had the opportunity to bring him back, we were always going to. He has gone from strength to strength since he left us last summer, getting into the Australia team and being a consistent performer for them.” AFP
