Last Chance to Catch The Storm!

26 March, 2017

Await Stormy Weather today! This novel murder thriller, presented by CentreStage Productions, is set to take Colombo by storm for the last time today at the Lionel Wendt Theatre. The play is written and directed by the renowned dramatist Jehan Aloysius, and features both, live action as well as filmed scenes. This unique production is to be presented as a black and white movie, set in the late 1940’s world of film noir. The plot revolves around the shocking murder of Noel Richards and the subsequent investigation by a rather unorthodox and nameless inspector. The overall mood, production design and acting style of the production is inspired by the film noir or ‘dark cinema’ thrillers of the 1940s and 1950s, as the original play was written to a non-linier cinematic narrative style. Thus, Stormy Weather is bound to be a bold and unique theatre experience for those who enjoy cutting-edge theatre.

The experienced cast includes English theatre personalities such as Dmitri Gunatilake, Kavitha Gunesekera, Piorina Fernando, Dino Corera, Amesh De Silva and Atira Bandaranayke. Video Image is the Official Film Partner handling the cinematography and LITE FM is the official electronic media partner. Jehan and his troupe are excited to stage this play after a period of eight years. Stormy Weather was previously staged in Colombo in 2009- it was an immensely successful production for CentreStage Productions since the play earned full houses! So, prepare yourself for Stormy Weather today (26th March) at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.
