National Schools champions, Royal College are now in Canberra, Australia as per an invitation received from Australian Hockey ACT via the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canberra.They are due back on April 1.
The team was sponsored by the Certis Lanka Group. They will play five matches, all in the latest blue astro turfs which one match scheduled to be played under lights. Another noteworthy feature is they will undergo a training program by Australia’s under 21 coach, Ben Bishop who has also been a member of the coaching staff of the Olympic Gold Medal winning Australian team. Last year, the U-18 team, after a competitive tournament at the Astro hockey turf, went on to win the gold medal.
The Royal College Hockey Club which is celebrating its 26th year of existence has strived to maintain the standards of professionalism.
