Murder suspect arrested

A suspect in connection to a murder committed on February 22, in Nagahamulla junction, Kelaniya has been arrested by the Kelaniya Police. The suspect had been evading Police arrest.

Kelaniya Police had nabbed the individual on his return to Kelaniya at the Kelaniya Bus Depot on Friday. The suspect is a 21 year old resident of Gonawala, Kelaniya.

Petrol station robbed

Armed robbers made away with Rs. 380,000 by threatening the staff at a petrol station on the Piliyandala-Kottawa road at Pannipitiya. The robbers had arrived on a pulsar motor bike wearing full face helmets to commit the robbery.

According to the Police the duo had fired into the air in a bid to terrorize the staff. Piliyandala Police are carrying out further investigation into the incident.

Soldier found hanging

A soldier, on duty at his residence of a high ranking army officer, was found hanging in his room on Thursday.

The residence where the body was found is said to be in Balasuriya Mawatha, Kandana.

The deceased has been identified as 26 year old M.B.D.M Seneviratne, resident of Kumbukwewa, Kekirawa. Police are yet to ascertain the reason for the suicide.

Two arrested with Kerala ganja

A person was arrested with 430 kilograms of Kerala Ganja on Thursday. He was arrested in Kosgas Junction by the Mirihana Vice Prevention Unit on a tip off received.

Police were also nabbed another person with 600 kilograms of ganja through information obtained by questioning the arrested suspect. The suspects are said to be 27 and 30-year-old residents of Mount Lavinia and Maharagama.
