Promoting nautical tourism among local as well as foreign visitors, Sail Lanka Charter introduced ‘Opal’, the largest catamaran in its fleet last week.
“This is the sixth boat to be introduced by the company. Business is picking up and more visitors are patronizing our services.
Boating has become an integral part of the travel and tourism sector and are fast becoming popular,” Sail Lanka Charter, Deputy General Manager Jeroen Misseghers said.
“The company has plans to increase the fleet up to 20 boats by 2020. We see good potential in this business and hope to make it a viable venture in the near future,” he said.
The 53-foot catamaran has the capacity to host 50 guests and offers comfortable seating that can accommodate up to 20 people.
On its maiden voyage, the Opel will depart from Jungle Beach, Galle over the course of the next few months.
It will offer whale-watching tours, sunset cruises, snorkeling expeditions and exclusive dining on board.
