President says: Cabinet reshuffle will definitely take place

President Maithripala Sirisena says that a Cabinet reshuffle will definitely take place in the near future. The President reiterated the sentiments he made during a meeting with the heads of media outlets few weeks ago.

According to the President, the decision to reshuffle the Cabinet was agreed upon by the unity

government for the greater good of the people and of the country.

The reshuffle will most likely to take place after the Prime Minister’s return from China. A top ranking Minister of the UPFA speaking to Sunday Observer confirmed that the reshuffle was finalized between the President and the Prime Minister.

Ministry secretaries will also be changed according to the ministries that will be affected by such reshuffle, he said.

The President and Prime Minister held separate meetings with their respective party stalwarts during the first week of this month, where reports indicated that issues pertaining to the unity government and reshuffle were discussed.
