The annual six-a-side softball cricket tournament organized by the Negombo Hotelliers Association was held recently at the Wijayapala Mendis ground in Katana. The tournament was conducted for both men and women in the Hotel Trade in Negombo.
The Camelot Beach Hotel team led by Sajith Kumara defeated the Grand Deesha Hotel team by 14 runs to take away the champions trophy for men.
Meanwhile in the women’s championship was won by Jet Wing Hotel girls when they beat Jet Wing Ayurvedic Pavillion Cricketers by three runs to carry away the women’s title. The winning team was led by Shanika Perera.
The Chief guest on the occasion was The Principal of St. Mary’s College, Negombo Rev. Fr. Jayantha Wickramasinghe while the guest of honour was Negombo Traffic OIC G.KM.U. Gajanayake.
