Ceylinco steps up health insurance facilities

13 August, 2017

Ceylinco Insurance Company has introduced a Rs. 1 million cover that will reimburse medical costs incurred in the treatment of 21 illnesses.

The illnesses include heart disease, cancer, kidney failure, stroke and several other illnesses including heart attack and open heart surgery, major organ transplants, chronic lung and liver disease. “Every year we introduce new products. We have always settled claims on the spot. Our aim now is to get to the accident place within 25 minutes,” Ceylinco Insurance CEO Ajith Gunawardena said. “We pay claims fast and are concerned of affordability to the people. However, as Sri Lanka does not have a national insurance policy we are certain that this product will be one of the first of its kind in the country,” he said.

“Health insurance is a dire need for the people of this country as private medical facilities are becoming beyond their reach.

Providing an insurance cover of this nature will enable our customers to obtain advanced medical facilities if the need arises, without being a burden on their loved ones,” Ceylinco General Insurance Managing Director Patrick Alwis said. The new policy holders will be eligible for the Rs one million cover while existing customers will receive the benefit once the renewal process is completed. “The company expects billions of claims and our growth rate is over 20 percent,” he said. The growth of the country’s insurance industry is 12 percent at present. - SJ
