Music of the past and present times

10 September, 2017
Dushyanthi Perera has gone all out to stage a POPS concert with the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka featuring the young soloists Bhathiya Jayakody, Shehara Liyanage, Dinushka Jayawickreme and Amandhi Caldera. This performance of blockbuster soundtracks will come alive at the Bishop’s College Auditorium on September 16 and 17.

It’s going to be a fascinating evening of music which will transport you (and here I quote) “into a world beyond – from the Lord of the Rings to the Chronicles of Narnia or embark on a Mission Impossible, traipse the streets of Chicago, immense in the tales from Beauty and the Beast and the Lion King and watch the Gladiator from the grandstand”.

The curtain raiser is the sweeping grandeur of the Symphonic Suite from the Lord of the Rings, and the music moves into the Fellowship of the Ring and the Lion, The Witch and the Wardroble from the Chronicles of Narnia. With its wide expensive classical repertoire the SOSL switches tracks to songs made popular by phenomenal Josh Groban.

All in all, it would be an evening of exciting music with the thrills and spills of the silver screen plus moments of poignancy that will surely make your evening a memorable one.
