Ceylon Chamber seminar on Inland Revenue Act

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will hold a seminar on the recently passed Inland Revenue Act, tomorrow, September 11 at 2 p.m., which will be addressed by the State Minister of Finance, Eran Wickramaratne.

The State Minister, the keynote speaker, is expected to outline the rationale for the new tax bill, overall tax reforms agenda, and the government’s plans for fiscal consolidation and economic growth.

Wickramaratne’s address would be followed by presentations, by Partner, Ernst & Young, Sulaiman Nisthar and Partner-Tax, KPMG, Shamila Jayasekera.

The duo will later join a panel discussion, which will include Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, S. R. Attygalle, Commissioner General, Department of Inland Revenue, Ivan Dissananayake and Tax Policy Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Thanuja Perera.

Chairman of the Taxation Steering Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Duminda Hulangamuwa will moderate the discussion, while the welcome address would be delivered by Chief Economist of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Anushka Wijesinha.

The seminar will help the private sector to gain a clear understanding of the tax implications of the new Act.
