Sanitary, clinical support for CKD affected areas

10 September, 2017

The 250th water supply project to supply uncontaminated water to chronic kidney disease-prone areas and the launch of the provincial workshop on chronic kidney disease will be held today at 9.00 a.m. at the Sri Saddharamajothikarama Vihara, Horowpathana under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

To coincide with the event, a series clinics will be conducted to diagnose kidney patients early so that preventive measures could be taken to arrest the spread of the disease. However there is lack of public interest to attend such programs despite the rise in the number of patients. The Presidential Task Force set up for the prevention of the chronic kidney disease, operates under President Maithripala Sirisena to prevent kidney disease and ensure the welfare of kidney patients.

Clinics were held at Dutuwewa, Elapathwewa, Morawewa, Nabadawewa, Galkandawa, Janaudanagama, Dekethipothana, Meehondawewa, Pitigahawala, Maradankadawala, Ratmale Angunochchiya, Mukkarawewa and Thimbiriattawala from September 1-9.
