 Refuse tea seized

A man transporting refuse tea was nabbed by officers of the Mawathagama Police on Friday. Acting on a tip-off, the Police had searched a lorry travelling near the eighth-mile post in Mawathagama when they made the discovery. According to the Police, 5,040 kilograms of refuse tea was seized.

House of ill-repute raided

The Welikada Police raided a place of business on Old Kotte Road, Rajagiriya suspected of being a house of ill repute, after obtaining a special search warrant from the Aluthkade Courts

According to Police, the business had been operating under the guise of an ayurvedic treatment centre. The Police arrested the Manageress along with two other women aged 44 and 31.

Man stabbed to death in Dehiwala

A 59-year-old man died on Friday when he was stabbed in the Badowita area, Dehiwala. Police say the man was declared dead on being brought to the Kalubowila Hospital.

The victim has been identified as Mohamed Nazeer, a resident of Badowita. Police have arrested one suspect.
