Western Province with 91 golds lead on day two

Western Province with 91 gold medals has taken a comprehensive lead on the second day of the 43rd National Sports Festival which is held in Kotuwila Sports Complex, Matara.

In addition to gold medals the Western Province also has won 68 silver and 63 bronze medals to be on top of the medals table after the conclusion of the second day.

Central Province was way behind in the second slot with 37 golds, 33 silver and 41 bronze medals. No new records were established yesterday in any of the events. In the women’s volleyball final played yesterday between North Western and Western Province saw the NCP girls win in straight sets to take away the VB gold medal. (25-20, 25-15, 25-21). The bronze medal was won by Southern Province beating a strong Sabaragamuwa outfit, three sets to one (19-25,25-18, 25-18, 25-18).
