KDU wins CISCO Hackathon IoT 2017

Cisco Networking Academy Hackathon competition 2017 was open for all the students of Sri Lanka in the age group of 14-30.

There were 2,500 students registered for the first round and 100 students from 20 teams were selected for the final round.The finals of the competition was held on 25th and 26th of September 2017.

The competitors had to develop a solution with IoT technology for garbage management and 10 hours of time period were allowed for the task. The first task was completed by 6.00 pm on the first day and the panel completed their evaluation of prototype by 10.30 pm.

The second day was scheduled to present their solutions explaining the viability of the product they developed in a commercial environment.

After a lengthy two rounds of tough competition, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) emerged winners and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, The first runner-up.

The second runner-up was the University of Moratuwa.
