Milan Maersk on its way to Colombo

15 October, 2017

Milan Maersk, one of the world’s largest container vessels owned by Maersk Line, will call on the Colombo Port on Tuesday. Milan Maersk is a container ship built in 2017 and currently sailing under the flag of Denmark. The ship is of 399m overall length and a beam of 58m with 20,568 TEU capacity. Her gross tonnage is 212400 tons. Milan Maersk will be using Colombo as a transshipment port on this service as well as bringing essential imports from China and South East Asia for the Sri Lankan market. Industry sources said vessels of this nature calling on the Colombo port would help the government vision of developing Sri Lanka into a maritime hub.
