Ranabima Royal keen to excel in sports

Ranabima Royal College , housed at Gannoruwa, Peradeniya was founded by late W. M. P. B. Dissanayake, a former Chief Minister of Central Province and Palitha Elkaduwa, former Secretary of the Department of Education Central Province , the school was officially opened by Central Provincial Governor Stanley Thilakarathne on 2 March 1996.

Despite Ranabima’s short history of nearly two decades, they encourage sports in a big way specially cricket, and other sports as well.

The present principal K.D.U. Chandrakumara a former Director of Education Planning Section Central Province , a keen follower of sports gives all the encouragement . The MIC is Anura Chandrasiri another keen follower of the game. The team is coached by Sampath Silva, a former Dhamaraja Cricketer. From 2010 to 2013, they played the big match with Sri Rahula College Katugastota.

Ranabima are playing in the Division III. Last season they played six tournament games and won one out right, one on first innings and the other games ended in draws.

Ranabima Royal field an all-round side studded with many experienced players, they are fortunate to retain the service of some of the last season players. So, the batting will revolve around the senior players.

Skipper is Mohamed Razan a 3rd year player who bats left hand who scored over 300 runs last season and he is also a left arm spinner, much is expected from him this season. The others in the squad are Udara Dahampath , Malindu Wijesiri , R.A.G.S. Matheesha Pathirana ,Matheesha Pathirana ,Dulan Sandaruwana , Manula Kulatunga second year, Sohan Wijerathnaa ,T. Monishan , Vibath Jayasundara K.Steven , Saranga Weerasekara, Ramindu Dissanayaka, Akila Wijesinhe, K.Vidyagar, Samuditha Madumal.
