Sing-along fundraiser by ACA

19 November, 2017

Rev. Sister M. Pierre and The Apostolic Carmel Associates (ACA) of Carmel Seth Pahana Convent Katubedda organized a Sing Along Fundraiser at the MJF Foundation Auditorium recently.

The show was led by the One-Man-Band Nihal Fernando, a past president of the Moratuwa Arts Forum. The compere was Laksiri Fernando of Down Memory Lane fame, also no stranger to the MAF. The ACA are delighted that the show went off well and concluded on a great note of success being attended by a versatile participatory audience who from the very onset was ever ready to join in singing along with the bands and artistes.

Many guest artistes and amateurs joined Nihal making the event more entertaining. Among the artistes were, Thilak Perera, Sureshni Wanigasekera, Derek de Zilva of Fuze fame and Billy Fernando with Nushika of “Twofortytwo”.

There were amateur singers too on the band stand leading the audience, while we had the students of Vishwarupa Dance Academy from Moratuwa with choreography dancing for most of the Sinhala numbers. Inspired to reach out to a destitute family, whose 7-year-old daughter is suffering from incurable disease with the need to attend the LRH on a weekly basis, this Fundraiser was organized with the idea of providing them a house within the Colombo District with the proceeds.

The ACA are grateful to all who joined hands in support of this worthy cause and thank each and every one for the generous contributions which helped us to achieve this goal and give a better life to this family.
