Ceylon Chamber seminar on new forex Act

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will hold a seminar on Thursday, December 7 to discuss the new forex Act, which came into effect recently. Titled ‘The new forex Act and Regulations – What does it mean for Business?’.

The seminar will commence with a presentation by Senior Assistant Director, Legal and Compliance, Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Ms. Pavithri Vithanage.

Her presentation will be followed by a panel discussion, which will cover the key provisions of the new Act compared to the previous Act, the capital and current account regulations, re-designation of existing accounts and the overall policy direction of the new Act in terms of liberalizing foreign currency transactions.

The panelists will be Director, Department of Foreign Exchange of the CBSL, Udeni Alawattage, Senior Assistant Director, Legal and Compliance, CBSL, Ms. Pavithri Vithanage, Partner Ernst & Young, Duminda Hulangamuwa, Precedent Partner, F.J. & G. De Saram, Ms. Ayomi Aluwihare Gunawardene, Director, KPMG, Suresh Perera, Head of Compliance, Cargills Bank, Ms. Summaiya Maccan Marker and Chief Economist of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Shiran Fernando.

The seminar will take place at 2.30 p.m. at the Ground Floor Auditorium of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
