Gift vouchers for shoes were provided to the identified economically underprivileged school children for the year 2018 recently at the Ministry of Education. The Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam expressing his ideas at this occasion said that the most valuable resource of the country is the children.
Vouchers were given after obtaining the cabinet approval to give gift vouchers for shoes to identified school children. Gift vouchers for shoes were given to 647200 students learning in 4469 identified needy schools. The amount of money spent for this purpose by the Ministry of Education is 853 million rupees.
