The Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam stated at an event recently that for the protection of the future generation from the danger of drugs, not only the school community but also the involvement of outside parties are also very important. At the moment various programs are being implemented to eradicate the danger of drug menace from the school system through committees formed at school level.
“The direct involvement of the Ministry in protecting law, peace and the judicial system is essential to curb drug menace outside the school. Furthermore the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the defence sector is working for the eradication of the drug menace from the schools based on the information received from the intelligence sources as well as the school communities. Due to these activities the narcotic threat has almost being controlled within the school system,” Minister said.
