Woman killed in Rawatawatta

A 44-year-old woman was found stabbed to death inside a house in Rawatawatta, Moratuwa on Friday. Police have commenced investigations into the incident after receiving a call to the 119 Police emergency hotline. According to the Police, the victim has been identified as Ruwani Shanika Fernando, a resident of 1st Lane, Rawatawatta. Police are yet to identify the suspect in connection with the murder. Moratuwa Police are investigating.

Motorcycle thief nabbed

The Wariyapola Police and the Unsolved Crimes Unit nabbed a man suspected to have stolen motorcycles and other valuable items from various areas around the island. Making the arrest on Friday the Police discovered five motorcycles and three laptops Police said. The suspect has been identified as a 37-year-old Army deserter from Chilaw. Police say the man had used 12 aliases when committing crimes and was wanted by several Police stations across the island.

Pedestrian killed by three wheeler

A pedestrian was killed when a three wheeler knocked him down on the Colombo Kandy road in the Yakkala area on Friday. The pedestrian was attempting to cross the road when the accident took place. The victim is a 67-year-old female from Imbulgoda. While the three wheeler driver has been arrested, Yakkala Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
