Hatton Plantations hand over 34 houses to workers

18 February, 2018

Hatton Plantations PLC, a Regional Plantation Company, handed over 34 single independent houses constructed by the company to families of plantation workers of Dickoya Estate in Hatton, contributing towards the government’s goal of gradually transforming plantation estates into estate villages.

The houses, each constructed at a cost of Rs. 5 lakhs with a hall, bedroom, kitchen and washroom were handed over to the families of the workers together with seven perches of land at the estate last week.

The houses, the land and also household goods were given free and without any encumbrances.

Group Managing Director V. Govindasamy was the chief guest. Estate Manager and Managing Director and the families of the entire workforce were also present.

The construction of the houses was a sequel to the estate management’s efforts to overcome the acute labour shortage and the transfer of 34 families from a nearby estate that remains unproductive.
