The champion Shangri-La women’s team
Cinnamon Lakeside won the inaugural inter-hotel cricket Sixes for the Cyril Gardiner Trophy 2018 while Shangri-La Hotel Colombo emerged winners of the women’s segment at the championship worked off at the Moors Sports Club ground in Colombo in which 16 leading hotels contested.
Taj Samudra was runners-up in the men’s segment while Galle Face Hotel took the women’s runners-up trophy.
Sanjeev Gardiner, Chairman and owner of the Galle Face Hotel announced that the Cyril Gardiner Trophy would be an annual event following its success.
“The Galle Face Hotel was proud to organize the first inter-hotel six a side soft ball cricket tournament and we hope that events like this will strengthen the camaraderie in the hotel industry.
Together with the other leading hotels in Colombo, we look forward to improving Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector”, said Gardiner. Tourism and Christian Affairs Minister John Amaratunga was the chief guest.
