The Chefs’ Guild of Lanka announced the launch of the 18th edition of Culinary Art Food Expo (CAFÉ) 2018, at the BMICH Colombo, from June 1 - 3, 10 am to 7 pm. Sri Lanka’s premier culinary event CAFÉ hosts a large number of the country’s regional industry professionals and exhibitors, spanning sectors from food and drink, service and hospitality, equipment, and technology service providers. Visitors can also watch head-to-head chef competitions with teams from the nation’s leading hotels to complete over a three-day period.
The competitions will engage several chefs from Resorts, Restaurants and Hotels from around the country and the region, who will compete in six classes across all disciplines of the Culinary Arts Sri Lanka Festive Buffet, Culinary Hotel Championship, 7-Star Master Baker of the Year, Sri Lanka Artistic Creative Pastry Chef, Sri Lanka Arrack & Vodka Cocktail Championship, and Scan Sunquick Mocktail Competition. It is the ultimate challenge where several culinary talents will flock to display their masterly skills, and seek accreditation and feedback for improvement from the judging panel of internationally acclaimed chefs. For the first time, in order to engage the visitors, a Public Family Master Cooking Live Competition will be held to enthrall young and old food lovers alike.
Eight International Judges will be present alongside six local judges during this culinary spectacular event. CAFÉ is widely recognized as the country’s most prestigious international culinary competition that places strong emphasis on the promotion of culinary excellence. It is Sri Lanka’s largest Culinary Competition and is endorsed by the World Association of Chef Societies (WACS).
Chairman, Chefs’ Guild of Lanka, Chef Gerard Mendis stressed, the Chefs’ Guild of Lanka established in 1988 serves as an industry-centered training platform, with its structured culinary programs that bring you world class experience in hospitality training. All eyes at CAFÉ are set on the competition, which has also become a gathering point for fellow gourmets to make new friends, share their experiences and marvel at the creative show pieces. He added, “It is a great opportunity for these chefs to step up in their culinary careers.
We hope to have another excellent performance by our chefs this year.” This year we have given the opportunity to the public to participate as a family in the competition, he added.
