HelpAge Ramadan cards, a blessing to cataract patients

HelpAge Eye Hospital, Wellawatta is now a household name among the underprivileged senior citizens in Sri Lanka.

The Hospital performs 20 free Cataract surgeries every week, with funds, from the sale of HelpAge greeting cards. During this festive season too, HelpAge has released a large collection of over 200,000 colourful Ramadan Greeting cards.

HASL, Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge said the proceeds from the sales will be utilised to perform cataract surgeries free, on underprivileged senior citizens from all parts of the country. The Hospital is located at Sinsapa Road, Wellawatta, Colombo 6 (Opposite Savoy Cinema).

“The cataract surgeries are performed with imported high quality foldable lenses by eminent eye surgeons, assisted by well qualified nurses. Executive Director Liyanawaduge said part of the proceeds will be made use of, to conduct free mobile eye and medical camps around in the country.

This year’s Ramadan Greeting cards are adorned with colourful graphic cover designs including the Ramadan Moon Sighting Crescent, The Breaking Dawn, Living in the shade of Islam, The Ramadan Moon, Stars and the Mosque, Devotional Life, New Ramadan Moon, Sparkles of Contentment and Arabian Nights.

HASL Fund-raising Manager Ruchilalani Batuwantudawa requests the Muslim community to contribute towards this worthy cause by purchasing HelpAge Ramadan greeting cards.

The greeting cards are available at all leading book shops in Colombo and the outstations. Cards are also available at Super Centres including Keells, Cargills and Arpico and also at HASL Head Office, Raththanapitiya, Boralesgamuwa.
