Sirasa TV celebrated its 20th anniversary with a major revamp, with big changes in their regular programmes.

To mark the occasion, the station has been holding special programmes from June 10. An exciting viewer engagement campaign has also been launched which will be on for the rest of the year.

Sirasa which commenced its operations, attracting some of the best talent in the country has today grown to be a powerful and dynamic Sri Lankan media network.

Over the years Sirasa TV steadily built and reinforced the association and emotional relevance for viewers. This connection with the viewers was also significant in developing content; thereby becoming relevant to the audiences, introducing many firsts and bests.

According to a spokeswoman, “Innovation is at the heart of what we do... Innovation is our trade mark... be it in talent search, daily soaps, international programs dubbed in local language Reality TV and the first international franchised programs complemented by a strong brand of news and current affairs.

This has given us the edge to connect brands to the audience to ensure that partnerships we form with our stakeholders create long term business value,” she said.

The journey does not end here, the channel has introduced many new faces to host signature programmes such as their morning shows, chart shows and talk shows. Morning shows with Amritaa de Silva who represented Sri Lanka at the Miss World 2016 and the Weekend shows with the internet sensation, Janai Priyay are some of the new faces of Sirasa TV.

Prime-time commences from 6.00 p.m. and contains two new dramas targeting kids and young adults right after the solid cartoon belt from 4.00-6.00 p.m. Sirasa TV also has a drama belt dedicated for high quality local TV productions, ‘Hondama Natya Hondama Welawata’. Mini Gan Dela, a melodious love story from 18th century and ‘Thaththa’ a story about the delicate bond between a father and son are telecast at 8.30 p.m. on weekdays and weekends respectively.

Apart from TV shows and teledramas, Sirasa has also planned mega scale viewer engagement drives for the audience. The promotional plan consists of giving away five packs of rations to five winners every half an hour during the prime-time. Sirasa also gives away family tours to Universal Studios every week, which will be exciting and stirring. Viewers also have a chance of winning a vehicle every week and the grand prize is a brand-new Mercedes Benz CLA 180.

Ever since Sirasa TV’s unveiling in 1998, the channel has offered unusual and unique entertainment to every kind of visitor - young and old.
