A unique concept will be used by arranging the lengths of each hole to par 3 at the Dialog Enterprise Rotary Metro Par 3 Golf Classic that will tee off on October 27 at the Ridgeways course.
This event is organized by the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) along with the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan for the third consecutive year.
“It is unique as it will be the first time that a championship is to be held on a par 54 course. The hole will also be arranged to different lengths”, said Neluka Silva, the president of the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan at a media briefing at the RCGC.
She further added that this annual golfing event is organized as a fund raiser to support many Community Development projects initiated by Rotary Club. “Considering the intention of the Rotary Club, Dialog Enterprise too has came forward to support the event as it becomes a service needy community”, said Neluka.
Avancka Herath Captain of the RCGC stated that already 150 members have confirmed their participation and the club expect this number to exceed the 200 mark as it will be the first occasion that they get the opportunity to play in a new format. The Organizers also have made arrangements to conduct many other events for non-playing members and their children to enjoy the day filled with fun and frolic in a carnival atmosphere.
Jeremu E. Huxtable Group Chief Officer Dialog Enterprise addressing the media said that the projects initiated by Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan is a worthy causes and it became their duty to get involved with this golf tourney to support them as it serves the needy.
He said that his company will continue the sponsorship for a period of three years.
The Main Sponsor for the event will be Dialog Axiata while the Gold sponsor is International Construction Consortium (ICC). The co-sponsors are People’s Bank SriLankan Airlines, Softlogic Life, Akzo Nobel,Victoria Villa, Park Street Gourmet and Favourite Group.
