Tribute to global legends

28 October, 2018

If phrases of John Denver’s songs keep flashing across your mind and you are drawn to their lyrical quality – then it is important that you are a part of his “Tribute to the Music of John Denver” by the popular Irish singer Marc Roberts which will be staged at the Hilton Colombo today.

Marc Roberts will not be alone in this fabulous musical tribute. There’s another tribute as well and that to Neil Diamond – a Super Hits show sung by Steve Cummins. Well, here’s your opportunity if you want to re-live the songs of the 70s; and if all your instincts are on that track, you’ll be drawn to it like a magnet.

Ever since May 1977 when he hit the headlines with his Mysterious Woman at the Eurovision Song Contest representing Ireland, Marc Roberts moved from strength to strength. Not only is he a successful singer, he is a songwriter as well and what’s more, coming second at the Eurovision Song Contest, opened doors to Television, radio and press interviews and the whole of Ireland was made aware that they have in their midst a singing sensation.

His debut album was released in 1998, produced by leading producers Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy in Dublin. Meet Me Half Way was the album and Once in Your Life the title track. Currently Marc is working on his fourth album which will include some co-writers with Jimmy MacCarthy and Winsten Sela from the States. Coming back to the music of John Denver, Marc Roberts will perform a wide selection of Denver’s songs including Annie’s Song, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Take Me Home Country Roads, Some Days Are Diamonds, Calypso....

Marc Roberts is a presenter with Galway Bay FM. On Saturday and Sunday evenings he presents Marc Roberts Country a two hour show featuring the best of Irish and American country.

Then if you are a Neil Diamond fan and who isn’t, Steve Cummins will perform the Neil Diamond Super Hits Show.

Remember the songs Sweet Caroline, Cracklin’ Rosie, Cherry Cherry, Solitary Man, I’m a Believer, I Am I Said...

Steve Cummins has been described by the President of the Neil Diamond fan club in Australia as the only performer to have mastered the feel of Neil Diamond Music and performs a brilliant tribute to the man. The Show has toured extensively not only in Australia but globally too – so need I say more.
