If Rajitha is given back ministry: GMOA to launch island-wide strike– Secretary

4 November, 2018

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) will launch an island-wide strike without prior notice if the Health Minister’s post given back to Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.

Addressing a press conference at the GMOA Headquarters in Colombo yesterday he said that Dr. Senaratne is the most unsuitable Health Minister in the Sri Lankan history. He did the largest damage to the Sri Lankan health sector during the past three years.

According to Dr. Aluthge, he had gone and asked for the position again from the President on November 2nd. Later Dr. Senaratne’s media unit totally denied the claim made by the GMOA and said Dr. Senaratne did not make such move and will never do.

He is ready to show the majority for the former Prime Minister in the Parliament. He will never go against the wishes of 6.2 million people, the media unit statement said.

Dr. Aluthge said that Dr. Senaratne violated the Medical Ordinance and did his best to do away with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).

Supported the fraudulent and illegal company, SAITM and did his best to get official recognition to it. He involved in corruption and malpractices during tender procedures and gave market monopoly to a certain private company while importing eye lenses, he added.
