Pressures of social media

4 November, 2018

No less a person than the Duchess of Sussex warned of the pressures of social media in her recent visit to New Zealand . During talks with mental health advocates Megan Sparkle talked to people about the impact that unrealistic images on the likes of Instagram and Twitter can have on youth.

“Young people find it so difficult .You see photos on social media and .... your judgement of your sense of self worth becomes really skewed when it’s all based on likes.”, she was quoted telling a staff and volunteers from Live For Tomorrow, an on line youth initiative focussed on reaching young social media addicts with messages of hope and positive change.

Her husband, Prince Harry endorsed her views when he reportedly added, “Ïssues stemming from social media and gaming are a major problem for young people in the UK- and globally. Fingers are often pointed at the parents but, that’s not fair always as they too need to be educated about these things”.

Both Harry and Meghan are strong advocates of mental health awareness.
