CCC School of Cricket tours Dave Whatmore Cricket Centre

The CCC School of Cricket, a leading academy from Maitland Crescent in Colombo on Friday embarked on their 23rd foreign tour when their Under-12 and 13 teams flew out to Chennai, India as guests of the internationally famous CSS Whatmore Centre for Cricket.

The seven day tour takes in special training sessions on physical and mental skills development as well as indoor and outdoor training with lectures on psychology and nutrition.

Training will be under the direct supervision of Whatmore, Sri Lanka’s legendary coach of the World Cup winning team of 1996.

Last August the CCC U-13 team attended a similar programme and according to head coach Nelson Mendis it was one of the best the School underwent that helped them to produce some excellent results. On the current tour the boys will also be engaged in a few matches against some foreign teams who are due to undergo training at the Centre as well as local teams in Chennai.

Mendis accompanied the squads as Chef de Mission while the tour manager is Yasantha Silva.
