Kandy schools past pupils get-together

27 January, 2019

The Kandy Schools’ Past Pupils’ Association (KSPPA) will have its annual get-together, called Kandy Bash featuring a one day flurry of football, cricket and netball matches at Havelock Park on April 6.

The reason for such an event according to the organisers is to bring members together, facilitate mentoring and networking relationships and help out current pupils who may be in need of a bit of extra help.

The very first Kandy Bash was organized in 2007 before the association was officially formed, and eight Kandy schools were represented. Then in 2008 the association was formed and in that year the event was a huge success with past pupils of Dharmaraja College, Mahamaya Girls College, St. Anthony’s College, Good Shepherd Convent, Trinity College, Hillwood College, Pushpadana Girls College, St. Sylvester’s College, Vidyartha College, Kingswood College, Girls High School and St. Anthony’s Convent taking part.

This time there are more schools. This association was formed to build up camaraderie among the past pupils of Kandy schools. So, every year the event is organized in a grand fashion and also includes live music, entertainment, food and beverages stalls.

This year’s Organizing Committee comprises co-chairperson former Antonian cricketer Pramodth Fernando, Rashika Wijekoon St. Anthony’s Convent basketball and netball player and Secretary Shanika Thalwatte former Hillwoodian.
