Wimaladharma Brothers refurbishes flagship showroom

17 February, 2019

Wimaladharma Brothers has been in the wrist watch, alarm clock and wall clock industry for over 83 years.

The main showroom in Pettah has been refurbished to mark the occasion and customers will be provided discounts up to February 20.

“We founded Wimaladharma Brothers in 1936, under the tagline ‘The Time Keepers to the Nation’. Our company has been popular among customers who valued quality products at reasonable prices. Originally, our company was at First Cross Street, Colombo, before Sri Lanka’s independence,” said CEO of Wimaladharma Brothers (Pvt) Ltd., Shantha Wimaladharma.

“With the progress of our business, we moved to Front Street, where our showroom was opened in 1958. At that time we were primarily involved in importing products. In 1964, the first ever clock manufacturing plant was set up to support and nurture the local industry and we are proud of this.

“The family business was reshaped, as government policies evolved, and adapted to the changing business environment. With the introduction of the more open economic policies of 1977, we began importing most of our products. At this time, manufacturing operations took a back seat.

However, wrist watches were always imported. We also engaged in the wholesale and retail business. At present, we are in the midst of an expansion drive.

“Our showrooms at Malwatte Road (Front Street, Pettah), Liberty Plaza and Majestic City carry genuine globally-reputed brands.

“We offer a one-two year warranty for watches, varying according to the brand. We house a group of talented staff with the state-of-the-art Swiss and Japanese equipment to carry out quality servicing and repairing work.

“Our company is based on home-grown values that has stood the test of time for almost a century and has enabled us to remain competitive in the market,” said Wimaladharma.
