The world’s youngest cricket champions?

The CCC School of Cricket showed their supremacy in junior cricket when their tiny tots of the Under-9 team did well to win the inaugural inter academy cricket tournament recently probably making them the youngest group of cricketers to win a title.

CCC Juniors remained unbeaten in the tournament and beat Brendon Kuruppu C.A. Nondescript School of Cricket, S.A. Cricket Academy, Moratuwa and SSC School of Cricket in the preliminary round. In semi-finals, CCC beat NCC School of Cricket and got the better of the host team Premier Cricket Foundation in the final to win the championship unbeaten.

Tharun Ariyaratne the captain did exceptionally well as an all-rounder and won the award for the Best Batsman of the tournament while Jahan Pathirane another talented player excelled in both batting and bowling to take the Player of the Tournament award.Another player Thanula Mindada took 13 wickets in thetournament to miss the best bowler’s award by a single wicket.

The team was coached and inspired by Rangika Fernando former Sri Lanka women’s player.
