Ravana Sithabhilashaya - a musical, will go on the boards at VidyalokaVidyalaya, Waragoda, Kelaniya on March 11, at 12 noon and 3.30 p.m.
The play is jointly scripted by Prof J. B. Dissanayake and Namel Weeramuni, and directed by Namel Weeramuni.
The production has been reviewed by Prof: D. C. R. A. Goonatilleke as, “Innovative, Superhuman Interpretation and is likely to go down in the history of Sinhala drama as a landmark stylised play of our times.” Music compositions and training are by two award-winning veterans, Jayantha Aravinda, and Lionel Gunatillake.
The choreography is brilliantly created by the young and very imaginative and talented Akila Palipana.
The cast comprises, Rajitha Hevathantrige, Surangi Kosala, Chaminda Mirihagalle, Nihari Somasiri, Nilaksi Helapitiya, Guvani Uvindya, Saman Liyanarchchi, Mahesh Rajaguru, Sriyani Rupasinghe, Nishanta Ajith, Amith Prasad and a host of others, altogether thirty-one. Malini Weeramuni created the costumes, attractively designed and appropriate for the cast to enhance the the play.
