IFAD to support key Lankan plantation crops

Several projects to develop key Sri Lankan plantation crops such as tea, coconut and rubber have been implemented under the auspices of the International Agriculture Fund (IFAD) Mission. IFAD has invested five million US dollars on these projects during the past six months.

Minister of Plantation Industries, Navin Dissanayake held a discussion with key officials recently to evaluate progress of projects already implemented and to identify future projects.

Vice President (IFAD) Donald Brown,Director of Asia and Pacific Region Nigel Brett, Program Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives Dr. Tarek Kotb participated in the discussions.

The Secretary, Minister of Plantation Industries, J.A. Ranjith and Dirctor, Smallholder Tea and Rubber Revitalisation (STaRR) Project, Janaka Amarasinghe also participated in the discussion.
