Wesley at the mercy of Peterites

24 March, 2019

St. Peter’s College are tipped to beat Wesley College when the two teams meet this evening at Havelock Park in their inter school League rugby match, but the chances are that their opponents too have got something in them to make a match of it.

For that to happen, Wesley will have to play at their brilliant best after losing to Kingswood College 17-12 and Royal College 24-19 while beating Maliyadeva College 50-10.

The Peterites suffered a shock 20-21 loss at the hands of S. Thomas’ College in their opening match but since then have stood up to be counted and meant business in their following two matches against Kingswood and Maliyadeva College.

The Peterites virtually destroyed the promoted Maliyadeva College by 82 points to nil and should they go in for another kill the Wesleyites will face an uphill task of having to stay in contention for the second round matches of the Cup championship.

Wesley’s last group-stage match is against the Thomians which will be another tough hurdle to overcome.

The Peterite strength is mostly in their forwards led by the experienced flanker Bilal Hilmy who is the captain of the side.
