Sri Lanka cricketers Sachith Pathirana, son of Kandy cricket promoter Janaka Pathirana left the island on Thursday together with his wife Lakshika, son Yanuka and daughter Saheli to take up a stint with the Furness Cricket Club in England as their overseas player and coach for the 2019 season.

A promising left-arm spinner, who could do well both with the bat and ball earned his maiden cap for the Sri Lanka team at the ODI series against Bangladesh in 2013 in Sri Lanka. His good performances kept him in the game. He was one of the forefront players in Southern Express’ success in the Super 4s T20 tournament where he captured four and three wickets in the semi-final and final respectively as Southern Express sealed the title.

Pathirana, a top all-round has played in 18 ODIs and five T20s for Sri Lanka. In 2017 he appeared against India on home soil. He has a record in first-class cricket, having taken 320 wickets in 94 matches, at an average of 30.57 which includes 21 five-wicket hauls.

He has made 3714 runs, scoring three centuries and 22 half-centuries with 168 as his highest score.
