Value of the five precepts

12 May, 2019

The five precepts are five rules of training for Buddhist lay persons to lead a virtuous life. Due to globalisation this is not easy to achieve.

Every person loves his life. Do not kill or harm others is the first precept. We must not steal other people’s belongings. The second precept tells us that we should refrain from stealing others things’.

The third precept tells us to refrain from sexual misconduct. Most of the people in this world utter harsh words.

Open your eyes to what happens due to breaking the fourth precept, refrain from telling lies.

Some people who live in the 21st century are drug dealers and addicts. The l fifth precept says that we should refrain from taking drugs and intoxicants. If everyone observes and follows the five precepts our society will be a beautiful place to live.
