Panchali wins doubles and singles titles

Panchali Janodya Adikari, a 16-year old student of Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy showed her outstanding talent in badminton when she won both the singles and doubles (Under 17 age category) in partnership with Manudi Mithara of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara at the recently concluded Open Defenders Badminton Championship organized by the Army and held at Panagoda Badminton Courts.

Early this year Panchali won the Under-17 Singles title at the SSC Open and last year she had the opportunity to follow a three weeks training course held for juniors of Asian countries at the Prakash Padukone Academy in Bangalore, India.

Her local coaches are RS Dahanayake and R. Lasantha
