The women’s inter club rugby Sevens tournament will kick off today at Havelock Sports Club ground with eight teams in the fray, the highest ever to contest.
Women’s rugby giants Navy will be defending the title and will field two teams while their main rivals over the years Army will also deploy two teams.
Air force and CR and FC who have been regulars in this tournament and will feature a team each while there will be two teams from the Sabaragamuwa and the Southern provinces.
After the completion of the round robin games, the teams will play for the Shield, Bowl, Plate and Cup.
The tournament will kick off at 10.00 am with the Cup final scheduled for 5.20 pm.
