Fortieth anniversary of Oman-Sri Lanka diplomatic ties

The Sultanate of Oman and theDemocratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka commemorated the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on February 17.

To mark this momentous occasion, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi,and the Foreign Minister o Dinesh Gunawardena, have exchanged felicitation messages on this significant occasion in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

“It is a great honour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries and truly a milestone event in the history of our countries.

“Oman and Sri Lanka have increased their cooperation in many areas in the last few decades at a bilateral and multilateral level.

“The 40th Anniversary is an opportunity that allows us to highlight the extremely valuable relationship which has developed over these forty years; a relationship guided by our shared understanding and mutual interest for the pursuit of prosperity for our peoples under the Leaders of both countries.

“On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the diplomatic relation between our two countries, I wish to extend my heartiest wishes to His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for the good health, happiness and further progress and prosperity of the people of Sri Lanka,” said Juma Hamdan Hassan Al Malik Al Shehhi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman.
