A nine-year-old girl died due to excessive beating by an exorcist last night.
The Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that girl had been taken to a treatment by the mother and said that the child was possessed. A woman known to be an exorcist at the treatment centre had caned the child.
However, the child had been unconscious and later had been taken to the Biyagama Hospital. Upon admission, the doctors had confirmed the death of the child.
